DERN & SPRINGCREEK Designed to Save Lives OPEN HOUSE The intersection of Dern and Springcreek Roads sees a high volume of crashes that have resulted in serious injury or death. In the last 11 years, nearly 50 crashes have occurred at the intersection, including one fatality. The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) will be making much-needed safety improvements to the Dern/Springcreek intersection by installing a roundabout in the spring of 2021 MDT recognizes the impact this project will have in the Flathead Valley. As such, an informal opportunity will be provided to share information, demonstrate the extensive study that went into the design, collect feedback, and answer questions during two open houses. These events will be held on March 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m, both at the Hampton Inn Kalispell, located at 1140 U.S. Highway 2 West OPENHO USE MARCH 13 10AM-1PM & 4PM-7PM HAMPTON INN KALISPELL 1140 US HIGHWAY 2 WEST The open houses will be an opportunity for members of the public to speak directly with project staff to have their questions answered while learning about the design process. This will include information as to why a roundabout has been selected as the safest alternative and how this design will differ from those currently in the Flathead Valley.
