"THE ANGELS WEEP The Angels wept above the graves, Of those brave youth who died. God told them all: "Don't lose the faith, For I am on your side." When Freedom's Bell tolled or'e the land And rang: "We need your aid." Young men and girls came forth to serve, They said, "We'll make a trade." "We'll give our youth, to set men free, And go through war's great strife, But promise, too, when peace is won. Preserve our way of life." In God they put their trust, On land and in the air they fought. Our comrades took a stand. They met the foe out on the sea. They knew their cause was just. God led them on the battle- field. Where many men were killed, And he delayed their final breath Until the guns were stilled. Those silent guns and bayonets Have long since turned to rust. Our comrades in their lonely graves Have all returned to dust. Let's not forget the blood they shed To keep our Country free. When told the cause would help When called upon to shoulder mankind arms, They didn't turn and flee. In some far distant land, To free their bonds of tyranny; Unselfishly they gave their all. And served with dignity. They sacrificed their youthful life, And gifted Liberty. Let's pray they have not died in vain, Those young, whose hearts rang true. There's some would rewrite history, To suit their Liberal view. But they forget, it was for them, The hallowed ground was stained. If we had lost their "Homeland Dear," The tyrants would have reigned. We pray God's love spreads or'e the world, And that all wars will cease.. Until that day, let's honor those Who died preserving peace. The Angels weep in sympathy, For Veterans who have died, But God says; "Wipe away those tears, For they are by my side."
