"THE ANGELS WEEP" The Angels wept above the graves, Of those brave youth who died. God told them all: "Don't lose the faith, For I am on your side." Those silent guns and bayonets Have long since turned to rust. Our comrades in their lonely graves Have all returned to dust. When Freedom's Bell tolled or'e the land And rang: "We need your aid." Young men and girls came forth to serve, They said, "We'll make a trade." Let's not forget the blood they shed To keep our Country free. When called upon to shoulder arms, They didn't turn and flee. "We'll give our youth, to set men free, And go through war's great strife, But promise, too, when peace is won. Preserve our way of life." Unselfishly they gave their all. And served with dignity. They sacrificed their youthful life, And gifted Liberty. Let's pray they have not died in vain, Those young, whose hearts rang true. When told the cause would help mankind In some far distant land, To free their bonds of There's some would rewrite tyranny: Our comrades took a stand.
