MD Open House Meeting DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION Public Discussion of Project to Widen One Mile of U.S. Highway 93 The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is hosting an open house on a proposed project to widen one mile of U.S. Highway 93 (US-93) west of Whitefish. The open house will be held in Whitefish on Wednesday, March 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Whitefish Community Center (121 East 2nd St.) Project team members will be available during the open house to discuss the project. The project is located on US-93 from reference post 133 to reference post 134, including the two curves between Twin Bridges Road and Beaver Lake Road Proposed work includes widening the roadway to include 4-foot shoulders, flattening side slopes and guardrail Construction is tentatively planned for 2022 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. Minor utility relocation and acquisition of new right-of-way are anticipated. The purpose of the project is to increase safety by addressing run-off-the-road crashes MDT attempts to provide accommodations for any known disability that may interfere with a person's participation in any department service, program or activity.
