NAMI Family-to-Family National Alliance on Mental illness NAMI Family-to-Family is a FREE, 8-session educational program for family, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. It is a designated evidenced-based program. This means that research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to a person with a mental health condition. Below is a list of some of the mental conditions we talk about: Major Depression Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression) Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorder Borderline Personality Disorder Panic Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Co-occurring Brain and addictive Disorder A series of 8 sessions structured to help you understand and sup- port an individual with a serious mental condition while maintain- ing your own well-being. The course is taught by a team of trained NAMI family member volunteers who know what it is like to have a love one struggling with one of these brain disorders. The group setting of NAMI Family-to-Family provides mutual support and shared positive impact-experience compassion and reinforcement from people who understand your situation.
