Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are in Effect Extreme fire danger across Western Montana, it is early in the fire season and resources are being stretched to the limit. Fire restrictions help land management agencies reduce fire risk & prevent wildfires during periods of HIGH to EXTREME fire danger. CAMPFIRES are prohibited. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) stoves that can be turned on and off are allowed in areas clear of flammable materials. SMOKING is prohibited outside of vehicles, buildings and developed recreation sites, unless in a barren area at least 3 feet in diameter. OPERATING motorized vehicles off of designated roads and trails is prohibited. OPERATING any internal combustion engine, welding, operating a torch with open flame, and using any explosive is prohibited from 1pm to 1am. A one hour patrol following cessation of work is required. "Fireworks and exploding targets are never allowed on state or federal land Adjust trailer chains so that they are not dragging, as dragging chains throw sparks into roadsides and may ignite quickly moving grass fires.
