Tell us how you are planning for future success and what cool things you have on the horizon. The future for Quiltworx continues to be bright! In 2024, we are looking very forward to holding the two major events at Snowline Acres in October! We have recently started a subscription box service and the first boxes will begin shipping in February of 2024! These boxes not only include a great selection of products for customers, but also come with online class training by Judy, to help people learn to make their projects. 2024 is also our 10 year anniversary designing fabrics with Timeless Treasures Fabrics. We are in the midst of a significant update to our website as well. And finally, 2024 will be a year of rethinking how we continue to fit into our spaces at the office. We will continue some remodeling efforts and make way for us to continue to expand our product offerings, particularly as it pertains to supporting fabric companies that we work with and offering pre-cut kits of our patterns. We now have a wide range of pattern and fabric kits available on the marketplace at www.quiltster.com. We also want the community to know that we are open to working with others to book our training facility during times when it is not being used for Quiltworx events. We presently book it out ourselves for around 16 weeks a year. If you are looking for a weekend retreat with your friends to work on projects (it doesn't have to be quilts!) or a place for a corporate retreat, possibly a fun location to hold a yoga retreat, or really anything that might require a temporary meeting space, let us know! We are definitely open to talking about it more! You can contact us through info@quiltworx.com or 406-393-2646 for more information and to discuss opportunities. You are always welcome to stop by the warehouse and shop directly with us, too! We have kits, fabrics, and patterns. Maverick, the warehouse dog. will be here to welcome you with an enthusiastic tail wag and office staff is always willing to take time out of their day and show you around! What advice would you give to someone just starting out in their business or organization? Be passionate about it and be prepared for some long hours!!! When Judy and Del started the company, two things they said that always stand out for me as their daughter were, "if we can make an extra $500.00 a month, just think about what kind of an impact that would have on paying off the mortgage faster?" And, "if it stops being fun, we can just quit doing it." Both these statements make me laugh as their efforts left both those comments in the dust about 20 years ago. We've surely had moments where it hasn't always been fun. But, the fun always comes back. Running a company and growing a company is hard work. It is also incredibly rewarding in ways that we didn't even know it would be in the 1990s, when my mom had an idea. The continued response from people around the world that love what we do is rewarding. When I was a Civil Engineer, I remember feeling as though working in municipal water treatment was an incredibly rewarding and impactful career. I still believe that. However, the personal connection, warmth, friendship, commitment, and love that we have been rewarded with by running Quiltworx is impactful in ways you never forget. I get personal thank yous often from people who made quilts for family that were sick, people who have found endless joy in the creation of our quilts, people who are winning awards and recognition in their own communities because of learning our techniques, and I am always reminded that impacting the world through creation and art and human connection is as important as providing safe drinking water. If you are thinking of pursuing a passion like this, you will be rewarded in many ways, beyond just the paycheck at the end of the day. If you remember that, even when it feels impossible, and stay focused on your dreams, you can succeed.
