At Whitefish Stage Farm we believe in the importance of the relationship between the farm and the people it feeds. We also believe folks are better off eating food that's super fresh, super delicious. and super affordable because it's produced locally. Today the average American farmer gets $0.15 cents for every dollar spent on food in the grocery store while the average bunch of broccoli, cauliflower, green peas, spinach or lettuce each travels more than 2,000 miles, and takes an average of 4 weeks to get to the store. This forces farmers to produce food as cheaply as possible, often using pesticides and fertilizers to drive down their costs...and requires the use of chemical preservatives, genetic modifications and expensive packaging to allow the food to survive the journey. All this combines so that folks are really paying more for the chemicals, transportation, refrigeration, and middlemen than they are nutritious food. As a result of all of this there is a a wellspring American consumers starting to take back their food system by buying from local farmers that they know and trust.  We at Whitefish Stage Organic Farms are here to help the Flathead do just that!
