About

The Montana Department of Livestock (MDOL) has been serving the livestock industry since territorial days. In a state with a billion dollar a year livestock industry and nearly three times as many cattle as people, that’s a pretty big deal. Our wide-ranging responsibilities include managing animal disease; issuing brands and enforcing brand laws; inspecting livestock; investigating and preventing livestock theft; and inspecting and licensing meat processors and egg, milk, and dairy producers.
